Adding powered USB to my car, Day 1

I recently bought a phone mount for my Audi A6. It is two parts. One part adapted for my car, the other part is adapted for my HTC Desire. The power is taken from a cigarette lighter connector. Stupid fucking retarded connector not designed for this! So my solution is to hack my car and the phone mount (it is not a car mount for my phone… would look kinda stupid to walk around with a car on the phone all day).
Step 1 is to add a powered USB to my dashboard. Step 2 is to snip the cigarette lighter plug and put a USB connector there instead.

Today I have soldered wires to the cable harness on the Symphony head unit. By using the “S” lead I get power when the ignition key is inserted AND turned. The power remains on until I remove the ignition key. So I can turn the motor off and still charge the phone. But when leaving the car (and taking ignition key out) there is no power to the USB port. Just the way I like it.

Installed some cool servers at work

Got a few new servers at work and man where they massive. HP sure makes great servers. There is a difference in server and desktop hardware. If you’re used to ordinary PC hardware and look at a server it is very much “Russian Space Station *clonk* *clonk*”. Everything is robust and big.

The servers in question are a pair of HP ProLiant DL 585 G5 with 4 QuadCore Opterons and 128GB RAM each. They will do important stuff, I’m sure.

HandBrake RPM for Fedora 13

First attempt at installing HandBrake 0.9.4 for Fedora 12 on Fedora 13 failed. I checked out the latest source from Subversion and built it to some RPM packages. Seems to work ok.

Djurkommunikation på Sätesholm

Nu har jag äntligen fått göra en riktig kommunikation med Oliver. När jag gick Djurkommunikation steg 2 hos Susanne så var Oliver så kraftig i sin kommunikation att jag blev överväldigad och fick bryta. Det var tre år sedan. Idag gjorde jag klart kommunikationen.

Vid tillfället erbjöd Susanne mig att komma tillbaka och sitta själv med Oliver en dag. Det blev aldrig av och jag har varit där fler gånger sedan dess men inte på djukommunikation och har därmed inte gjort en kommunikation med honom sedan dess. Till saken hör att Oliver och jag har en väldigt speciell kontakt och vi är båda väldigt glada för varandra.

För en månad sedan frågade jag till slut Susanne om jag fick sitta med en söndageftermiddag om jag fick sitta med hos hästarna på en djurkommunikationskurs. Jag fick sitta med hela dagen! Så idag har jag pratat med Maxi, Kiara, FloJo och till slut Oliver

Alla djuren hade kloka saker att komma med. Här kommer ett axplock.

Maxi: Äntligen hör man ån igen. Den kommer med nytt och tar det gamla med sig. Ni människor oroar er mer än ni behöver. Människor borde lära sig mer av oss djur. När man har perspektivet att man står högst upp, känner man också att man måste ta hand om alla under. Kom ner på jorden och ta hand om varandra och låt er bli omhändertagna.

FloJo: Så länge det finns kommunikation finns kunskap och där kunskap finns, finns ingen plats för konflikt.

Visst är de visa? Jag hoppas jag får kommunicera med Susannes djur fler gånger för även om våra andra djur också besitter stora visheter så är djuren på Sätesholm väldigt speciella. Det är inte alla som väljer att blir lärare som de heller.

Removed old stuff

I have removed Sleezeball, GFXIndex, rmRemote and PPPP. The files are still there to download but the pages never got updated so I eated them.

I recently got an HTC Desire with Android 2.1 and I love it. The build quality is solid, the software is awesome. Ok so it’s a relatively new OS so there are not much commercial software available yet. I’d love to see Tom Tom for Android.
